Automatic Gain Control (AGC)

Electronic signal amplification for low-light performance.

Key Advantage

"Maximizes visibility in dark environments without increasing motion blur."

Electronic Amplification

Automatic Gain Control (AGC) works by amplifying the electrical signal from the sensor before it is digitized. This is the primary tool for seeing in the dark when increasing the exposure time is not an option (e.g., when capturing fast-moving objects).

Balancing Noise and Clarity

While amplification improves visibility, it also increases electronic noise. Our AGC algorithms are specifically tuned for the NVIDIA Jetson ISP to find the “sweet spot” between brightness and the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR), ensuring that AI models can still detect objects clearly in grainy environments.

Intelligent Gain Curves

We implement non-linear gain curves that prioritize detail in mid-tones while compressing extreme blacks and whites. This provides a more natural-looking image that mimics human ocular adaptation, essential for surveillance and autonomous navigation.
